My day started at an apartment complex that is largely resided by immigrants. This particular apartment was the apartment of a Jamaican woman. She seemed nice. she was very happy to see me, she had missed a previous appointment. The place was a horrible mess. I know she was moving, nut the place looked like she just grabbed stuff by the handful and dropped it wherever. There was no organization to any of it. She was extremely happy to get her TV back, especially the westerns channel. I don't know if I've ever seen someone so excited by westerns. She told she didn't find out until recently that a lot of westerns were made in Europe, like The Good, The Bad and the Ugly. For a while a friend of hers was there, he was Jamaican as well, he got a call at one point from his work where he proceeded to tell them he was sick and wasn't coming in. When I got the TV back on the end of For a Few Dollars More was playing so we watched that as I was trying to get everything else working. Towards the end I was trying to figure out why none of the phones were ringing, but that was because she had the ringer turned off on all of them, which I though was weird.
Next I headed to my next job which was on the same block as my place. The guy there was young, probably a student. The unit itself looked newly refurbished. He pointed me towards a blank wall plate and said that's where the cable should be, but when I took it off nothing was there. I groped around inside the wall but found nothing. So I had to turn the job over to another team. I then took advantage of my location and used my bathroom.
Afterwards I had lunch (first time this week). Then I headed to my first afternoon job early. This was only a couple blocks away from where I live. There was a black guy here. I was there to set up his internet and phone, but he didn't even know if his computer can even go on the internet. It was old and he said he got it free. He told me he works for the company that puts out those video tutorials about how to use computers. The one with infomercials all over TV. He kept asking me about how to apply to my company though. When I was finished I showed him how to look for jobs with my company.
Next I tried to call my next job, but he said he wouldn't be home for another couple of hours. So I had to pick up another job in the area. This was a phone problem, in one of the huge mansions that's just south of the botanic gardens. The place had artwork all over the place. The stairway hat I used most of the time (there were multiple stairways going up and down) was completely covered with artwork done by their kids. When I had figured out how to get the cable and phone working it turned out that most of the cable channels weren't working. His other TV looked like crap too. I spent hours replacing everything, too no avail. Eventually I had to replace the line too the house, but it was too high to reach with my ladder. Actually I might have been able to reach it with my ladder but it would have been very risky, so I called one of the line techs who has a bucket truck to come over and help me. When he arrived he let me use the bucket, which was fun. Once I finished it I headed to my last job.
The last job was in a large, very confusing apartment building. One could easily get lost here. There was a young black couple here, still moving in. At this point I was already late for the day so I was trying to move as fast as possible. So I really didn't notice much I just wanted to go home.
