Today they had me doing installs in the southeast part of town. My first job was a house. The guy here was a big black guy with dreads. He was nice. The line to the house was old and needed to be replaced and there was no alleyways which means I had to carry my ladder into their backyard. He also wanted outlets in three rooms that didn't have any. So this install was basically doing everything from scratch. The guy left to go to work and his nanny was there to watch the kids. She seemed nice, but we didn't talk much. I spent 4 1/2 hours toiling in the sun doing this job. At one point my shirt was completely soaked with sweat.
Once I finally finished I had to go straight to my next job. This was an apartment building in apartment town. I have been to this one before. The box to hook people up is on the roof about 6 floors up, which I wasn't looking forward to. I spent too much time in the sun already today. There was a small patch of shade up there which I did my best to stay in. The lady in the apartment was very nice and very happy to see me. She said she has been living there for a week just watching DVDs. She had a small child with her. She looked very young, possibly 18 or 19. I assume her husband/boyfriend was working while she was caring for the child.
The next job was an apartment building near a local university. There was a large woman there, who was the building manager. I was there to hook up video for her. She spent the time talking to somebody from the company. I just wanted to get to my next job and get this day over with.
My last job was another apartment. There was a very talkative hispanic woman here. She said that her company is eliminating her office downtown, because most of the people who work there are out and about, so they don't really need an office. So she is going to start working from home. As I was there Cribs was on showing Pauly Shore's house. It was really nice, but it raised the question, "Pauly Shore still has money?" He must have saved it, because I haven't seen him in anything in a long time. She agreed with me. I left and went home.
